The Vancouver Whitecaps have been around as a soccer team since 1974 when they joined the North American Soccer League. But it wasn’t until 2009 that the Vancouver Whitecaps, now known as Vancouver Whitecaps FC, were granted status as a part of Major League Soccer (MLS), which is the top professional soccer league in Canada and the US.

In recent years, the Whitecaps have had a humble following and have gone relatively unnoticed in the eyes of most Vancouverites, but that might all be changing. The kick-off for their first MLS season is this year and the city has been bombarded with news coverage and hype. A full blown campaign has taken the city by storm; including contests, give-aways, jerseys put on statues across the city, sportswear retailers stocking brand apparel and graphics all over the city (Yes, we’ve put some of those up!).

SuperGraphics also helped this soccer club set up shop in their temporary home at Empire fields with thousands of square feet of graphics before the start of their season. This fall, they plan to move into the BC Place Stadium, which is currently undergoing some major updates including the world’s largest cable based retractable roof!

The Whitecaps got off to a good start winning their debut match against Toronto FC. They are currently 4th in their division with one win and one loss. It looks like the Vancouver Whitecaps take on the Seattle Sounders on June 11th – It’s on!
